Archives Gold Skips and Sector Planning

How end-of-section Gold skips work, why the price matters, and when saving currency is stronger than skipping.

Quick answer

Current walkthroughs report that the elevator can skip a full Archives section. The first skip costs 100 Gold and later skips become more expensive. Save Gold until the elevator, then compare the time saved with your remaining health and Ransom risk.

Route checklist

  1. Collect Gold without delaying in unsafe corridors.
  2. Reach the end-of-section elevator before committing to a skip.
  3. Check health, team state, remaining sectors, and current Gold.
  4. Buy the skip only when the route value exceeds the currency reserve you need.

A skip removes 50 rooms

Each lettered section contains 50 rooms, so one elevator skip removes a meaningful block of the 1,300-room route. That makes Gold the main time-planning resource in The Archives rather than a minor score pickup.

The first reported price is 100 Gold, with increases on later skips. Read the live elevator price every time instead of assuming the first cost repeats.

Keep an encounter reserve

Ransom also puts pressure on the run economy. A team that empties its Gold at every elevator may save rooms but lose flexibility during an interruption. Keep a reserve when the group is healthy enough to clear another sector normally.

  • Skip when health is low and the next 50 rooms are the larger risk.
  • Save when the team is stable and the next price would empty the reserve.
  • Avoid slow detours for small Gold pickups during an active threat cue.
  • Record skip purchases in the Progress Tracker so room totals remain accurate.

Planning Z-50

If Z-50 is the goal, use skips to remove the weakest part of the run, not automatically the earliest section. Early sectors teach the current encounter pool at lower sunk cost. Later skips protect a run that has already invested far more time.
