Quick answer
Clear 26 sections from A through Z. Each section contains 50 rooms, and the elevator at the end acts as a route break where Gold can skip a later section. Survive by reading audio cues, preserving currency, and treating each special room as its own rule set.
Route checklist
- Clear Section A without buying a skip so you learn the current encounter pool.
- At each 50-room boundary, recover, check your Journal goals, and decide whether Gold is worth a skip.
- Use audio-first responses for Bash and camera discipline for Alma.
- Slow down for Teller and Forget-Me-Not; both punish rushed reading.
- Continue through Section Z and room Z-50 for the full-route objective.
How the A–Z structure works
The Archives uses letters as sectors and resets the room count inside each one. A-01 through A-50 leads into the next section, continuing until Z. That produces 1,300 numbered rooms across the complete route.
The elevator at a sector boundary is more than scenery. It gives the run a repeatable rhythm: check health, confirm the next goal, decide whether to spend Gold, and make sure the group is together before leaving.
The survival loop
Normal office rooms reward a fast scan: identify the exit, note hiding positions, read floor hazards, then loot only when the path is safe. When the room language changes—a service counter, flower station, crowd, static, or executive office—stop applying the normal corridor routine.
Water coolers can provide a recovery window, while bandages and pizza restore health during the run. The reported cooler control uses red on the left and blue on the right. Use healing before the next encounter begins rather than carrying damage into a special room.
High-risk encounters
Bash is the sound check: move off its route when the crackling approach begins. Drones are the space check: avoid the crowd’s travel line. Scribbles is the visibility check: hide and wait. Teller and Forget-Me-Not are reading checks, so give the display and pattern your full attention.
Alma behavior produced conflicting reports during the first day after release. Use controlled camera movement, avoid staring, and do not depend on a narrow timing trick during a long completion attempt.
- Keep one known hiding position in mind before opening the next door.
- Do not sort inventory in the center of a corridor.
- Reserve Gold for both skips and encounter pressure.
- At a special room, name the rule aloud so the team follows one plan.
Questions players ask
How many rooms are in The Archives?
The current A–Z structure has 26 sections with 50 rooms each, for 1,300 rooms before skips.
Can Gold skip a whole section?
Yes. Current walkthroughs report full-section elevator skips, beginning at 100 Gold and increasing later in the run.
Is there a checkpoint?
The sector-end elevator is the run’s planning break, and current guides report an exit/save opportunity after Section C. Check the in-game option shown in your server before leaving.
